Alarms are triggered when problems arise in your monitored environment. Foglight fires alarms when a rule determines that certain pre-defined conditions are met.
For this purpose, Foglight has a notification system that allows users to receive alerts or notifications about events and issues detected within the monitored environment. These notifications are sent through communication channels, referred as Notification Channels.
These notification channels ensure that only important alert messages reach the appropriate recipients. This combination of flexibility, consistency, and comprehensiveness results in a monitoring system that is more accurate and impactful. It reduces the instances of email storms and minimizes distractions for busy operations and application-support teams.
The notification channels currently support sending notifications as emails. Each notification channel determines the set of contacts that will receive an email. To view and manage the notification channels, click Manage Notification Channels on the Welcome page, or click Alarm Management > Notification Management in the left navigation pane. To determine which alarm will trigger an email, you need to associate a notification channel to an alarm definition.
For detailed, step-by-step configuration options, refer to the Notification Channels video.
